Getting to Málaga
Primary Airport (Recommended)
Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport (AGP)
- International airport with direct flights from major European hubs.
- Located ~15 minutes from downtown Málaga.
- Best option when available.
Major International Gateways to Spain
If you cannot fly directly to Málaga, the most common alternatives are:
- Madrid (MAD): Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport
- Barcelona (BCN): El Prat Airport
From either city, you can connect to Málaga by air or high-speed train.
Connecting from Madrid to Málaga
High-Speed Train (AVE) – Highly Recommended
If you arrive in Madrid, the high-speed train (AVE) is the easiest and most reliable way to reach Málaga.
- Travel time: ~2 hours 45 minutes
- Departure station: Madrid-Puerta de Atocha
- Arrival station: Málaga-María Zambrano
- Features: Comfortable, fast, and frequent departures

Domestic Flights
Short domestic flights are also available from:
- Madrid (MAD → AGP)

Note: When factoring airport transfers and security, the train is often faster overall.
